VIVA LAS VEGAS!!

Well folks, it was back to the good old USA for me and the madness that is LAS VEGAS!

Now, this had never been high on my wish list of places to visit, but it was a lady who persuaded me to cross the Atlantic. The legend that is, the divine Miss M, herself, BETTE MIDLER!

My flight was with Virgin at 10.45am, which meant a 6.30am wake up call. Nice! The flight itself was very pleasant, which I was surprised at having had a hideous night flight back from New York last year. I noticed straight away that the majority of passengers in my section were part of birthday parties and wedding parties also. I have to be honest and ask, why people want to spend, what is meant to be the most romantic day of their lives, getting married, whilst surrounded by hookers and Elvis impersonators?

After a smooth landing and a small hold up waiting for baggage, I was at my hotel on the Las Vegas strip. I had chosen the Luxor, which is the Egyptian themed hotel. You enter under the massive Sphinx outside and into the pyramid behind. I knew that everything is big in Vegas, but this was HUGE. And camp too. I was on the 10th floor, and was carried there on, not an elevator, but an INCLINATOR, of which 4 inhabit the corners of the pyramid.

After unpacking I ventured downstairs for a nose. I ended up in the bars for a couple of very good cosmopolitans. It's true what I had heard about Vegas hotels. Each one is an experience in itself, and it is possible never to leave your hotel in some on the strip. All have entertainment centres. The Luxor has a cinema and a couple of theatres. Numerous bars and restaurants plus the obligatory casino. I watched everyone going by whilst finishing off for my drink. I then decided to go and get ready to have something to eat in The Steakhouse restaurant.

However, when I got upstairs, I sat on the bed at 6.30pm and woke up gone midnight.......
